Slika_Zrenjanin_03072020.jpg On 3 July 2020, the promotion of the Study on the situation on the labour market on the territory of Banat and the Timis district was organized in the Hotel “Vojvodina” in Zrenjanin. The study was developed by experts from InTER, within the project “Empowering Banat through Realistic Demand”. The project is implemented by the Regional Centre for Socio-Economic Development Banat in partnership with chambers of commerce from Serbia and Timisoara, and is funded through the Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program Romania Serbia.

The event was attended by representatives of the Regional Centre for Socio-Economic Development Banat, the Regional Chamber of Commerce Zrenjanin, the National Employment Agency, local governments from Banat, as well as representatives of business associations, centres for education and training, and the media.

Some of the key conclusions of the Study are that both regions (Banat and Timis) face similar labour market challenges, such as: labour migration, unmet demand from employers, the need for low-skilled workers, population aging and gender gap, as well as insufficient and inadequate cooperation between educational and business organizations.

The study also defined the priorities of cooperation in the border area, as follows: improving cross-border mobility of workers, development of regional educational space and multisectoral cooperation between the private, public and civil sectors.

The entire study is available here.
