Via Ferrata Đurđevica Opened for Tourists

IMG_7470.JPG On 24 December 2024, Via Ferrata Đurđevica was officially opened in Tutin, and the final conference of the project “Via Ferrata CLUB - Via Ferrata CLimb to Unveil Beauty of Piva and Ibar” was organised. The event brought together project participants and partners, representatives of institutions, local communities, and media to present achieved results and promote the project’s significance for regional tourism development.

The event began with opening remarks by Selma Kučević, Mayor of Tutin, Slobodan Delić, Mayor of Plužine, and Dragiša Mijačić, Director of InTER.
The mayors emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation, sustainable tourism development, and the role of the Via Ferrata as a unique tourist attraction for the two local communities. Dragiša Mijačić presented the project’s key outcomes, particularly focusing on the construction of Via Ferrata Đurđevica and the training of local youth to lead tours on Via Ferrata.

A joint promotional film on the Piva and Đurđevica Via Ferratas was screened, showcasing the natural beauty of the regions and opportunities for adventure tourism brought by Via Ferrata.

A highlight of the event was the formal awarding of diplomas to participants who completed training for guides and rescuers. These trainings, carried out within the project, significantly enhance visitor safety and professionalizing services on Via Ferrata Đurđevica.

At the event’s conclusion, a tripartite agreement was signed, transferring ownership of Via Ferrata Đurđevica from InTER to the Municipality of Tutin, with management rights assigned to PSD Beleg from Tutin.

The project is jointly implemented by the Municipality of Plužine (Montenegro) and the Municipality of Tutin (Serbia), InTER (Serbia) and Piva Nature Park, and co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the financial instrument of pre-accession assistance (IPA II) through the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Serbia - Montenegro 2014-2020. The contract for co-financing with the funds of the European Union was signed with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia - Department for Contracting and Financing of Programs from the EU Funds.

Implementation of the project began on 1 November 2023 and it will last for one year, until 31 October 2024.
